People’s Parks – Memories & New Visions Celebratory Weekend (SUNDAY)

26th March 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Take a walk down memory lane, as we explore items of ‘lost’ built heritage within Belfast’s historic Parks and Gardens, in partnership with the Colin Area Men’s and North Belfast Men’s Shed. Kindly supported by Belfast City Council, the Public Health Agency and Groundwork NI, UAH invite you to a celebratory weekend, showcasing our lost built heritage, through a series of in-person and online events from Saturday 25th March & Sunday 26th March.

The People’s Parks – Memories and New Visions project celebrates items of built heritage that once stood pride of place in some of Belfast’s most historic Parks and Gardens e.g. ice houses, drinking fountains, swimming pools. Throughout the weekend, a selection of FREE activities will be available for members of the public to participate in, including photography workshops, an online tour, artist’s visuals and conceptual tributes to two items of lost built heritage. Join us over the course of the weekend to find out what!

On Sunday 26th March UAH will be in the Alexandra Park between 1pm – 4pm. Why not call down to see a reconstructed circular bench that once sat in Alexandra Park, a temporary structure, designed and built by members of the North Belfast Men’s Shed. We will also have a selection of artists creating visuals of the temporary structure.
