Lecture: The Revival Of Henrietta Street, Dublin
27th February 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$10 – $15.00In 2004 Shaffrey Associates were part of the team commissioned by Dublin City Council to undertake a Conservation Plan for Henrietta Street. Grainne will explain how this action led to work being undertaken to several properties in the Street including No. 14.
Number 14 Henrietta Street was once a grand townhouse for the crème de la crème of Georgian society in 1750s Dublin. However by 1876 it was housing over 100 people as a tenement building, remaining so until the 1970s.
The historic 18th century building was salvaged from rot by Dublin City Council and is now open to the public as a museum, demonstrating the realities of tenement living.
The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland 2018 awards jury said of the project: “Peeling back the layers of history, the restoration and refurbishment of 14 Henrietta Street is an architectural storybook.”
Drinks will be served from 6.30pm with the lecture commencing at 7.00pm.
Members £10, Non-Members £15, including refreshments.
