Conservation Without Frontiers is directed by author and architectural historian, Kevin V. Mulligan, and chaired by UAH President, Primrose Wilson CBE. The Summer School brings together students, experts, professionals and enthusiasts to explore, discuss & debate issues facing our shared Irish heritage, with plenty of opportunities to visit and engage with the history & heritage of the local area. The aim of the school is to inform on the subject of conservation, and to promote best practice through the direct engagement with experts and practitioners.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2019 programme aims to investigate the challenges and opportunities facing Irish towns and villages, from population migration, to the changing nature of the high street and current planning and policy. We will also look at the development of exemplar towns to learn about their rich history and heritage, how they inform and have been informed by our way of life, and to consider what this may mean for their future. This will assist us all in guiding a conservation led approach in the sustainable future of our historic places.<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme will encompass lectures from architects, historians and representatives of the\u00a0 local councils; as well as site visits, access to unique historic venues, and food and entertainment.<\/p>\n
