Step into Spring Heritage Festival

Posted on: 28th February 2022

Step into Spring with Ulster Architectural Heritage!

Celebrate the onset of Spring with a new heritage festival delivered by Ulster Architectural Heritage in partnership with Belfast City Council. Discover the joys of Spring and the wealth of interesting historic public sites in our city through a series of FREE family-friendly, fun in-person and online events from Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th March. Dust off your wellie boots, get outdoors and enjoy the fresh Spring air!

The Step into Spring Heritage Festival celebrates the great outdoors, wishing to engage with children and young people within the local public realm through a series of fun activities including a stilt walking butterfly, a fairy tale story teller and a face painter.

Throughout the weekend a selection of FREE kids Spring-themed activity packs will be available for children and young people to learn more about Spring customs, fun facts and traditional crafts.

As part of the activity pack UAH will be launching the Step into Spring Treasure Hunt and Colouring Activity Sheet. In the form of a trail of Belfast City Centre’s heritage buildings, children will be encouraged to colour in the picture of each building as they find them as well as answering a series of fun and inspiring questions. An exciting array of competition prizes will be up for grabs for a select number of winning entries.

Additionally, UAH will be offering FREE walking tours of Botanic Gardens and Falls Park. These tours will enable you to look at Belfast’s Parks in a different light. Learn more about the Botanic Garden’s Tropical Ravine and Palm House or the swimming pool at Falls Park! UAH will also be distributing an informative booklet that outlines Belfast’s other historic Parks and Gardens.

Can’t join us in person? Don’t worry, we will be relaunching our Open Heritage Belfast – Online Tour: Exploring Belfast’s Parks and Gardens so that you can have information to hand when you explore them in your own time. Our Step into Spring Treasure Hunt and Colour Activity sheet will also be available to download from the UAH website so everyone can get involved!

In-person activities will take place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March, 12-4pm. All events are FREE; however, booking for walking tours is essential.
