To those who claim social or political authority by virtue of hereditary right, the study of ancestry is not a hobby but a passport to power. While histories of architecture typically focus on novelty, this lecture will explore the opposite: how ancestry and the past were expressed in houses from the Restoration to the Regency.
John Goodhall is a vice-president of the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society and architectural editor of Country Life, he is one of the leading architectural historians writing today.
The lecture will be held at 6:30pm for 7:00pm The Boardroom at Clifton House 2 North Queen Street Belfast BT15 1ES
