The Plight of the Big House – JAK Dean Lecture

April 21 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

£7.50 – £10.00

Lecture by JAK (Dixie) Dean following the publication of his book The Plight of the Big House in Northern Ireland  published by UAH in December 2020. Dixie is a retired architect and the author, in addition to the book which is the subject of this talk, of the acclaimed gate lodges of Ireland series for which the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain awarded him the prestigious Colvin Prize.

The big house is a truly evocative entity and the lecture will feature examples from all the six counties looking not only at those now sadly lost to us but also at the contemporary plight of those still at risk in a highly timely way.

Members £7.50, Non-Members £10.

Before booking please ensure that you are available to attend on the date and time advertised. UAH online events are not recorded, and will not be made available after the date advertised, unless specifically advised.

UAH uses Zoom as its digital conferencing tool (www.zoom.us).  A reminder of your booking will issue by email 1 day before the event. Booking will close 3 hours before the event start time. A link to access the event will be emailed to those booked on the evening of the lecture.

Please telephone the UAH office on 028 90550213 or email [email protected] should you have any technical queries regarding joining the event.
