Thatch Buildings in NI by Manus Deery, VAG 2024
13th June 2024 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
£10.00In this lecture Manus Deery will give a background to thatch buildings across Northern Ireland, their materials and development. In 2022 DfC Historic Environment Division carried out a condition survey on listed thatch buildings in Northern Ireland. An overview of the information gathered is now available. The survey made comparisons on building condition with the thematic survey completed in 2007. It also summarises challenges faced by buildings and their custodians in maintaining our thatch buildings. Thatch buildings remain an important and unique part of our built historic environment that should be cherished for future generations. This lecture will be held in Stranmillis College.
UAH have been aiding the Vernacular Architecture Group (VAG) for their Spring Conference in Northern Ireland.
