Heritage Arts Challenge: Songwriting Workshop with Brigid O’Neill
18th September 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
FreeJoin UAH for a virtual song writing workshop led by Brigid O’Neill, as part of our Heritage Arts Challenge series. The Heritage Arts Challenge aims to inspire people to create a work of art inspired by a historic building or place in Northern Ireland. In this session, Brigid will be introducing the art of song writing and will be sharing some ideas behind writing songs, including from where to draw inspiration for both lyrics and music, and ways to help form ideas – from visiting historic buildings to research work. This workshop is designed to encourage anyone with an interest in songwriting to explore the idea of writing with a specific subject matter in mind. It will aim to show, that rather than focusing on descriptions, songs can be written simply ‘in response’ to the building, with an emphasis on the stories it holds, and the emotions it evokes. We will work on getting past ‘negative voices’ and exploring and pursuing first thoughts to have fun with songwriting.
Free and Open to All.
