4 Donegal Churches and a Youth Hostel

The event commences with dinner at Castle Grove Country House Hotel followed by an introductory lecture by Prof Bruce Campbell.  Following an overnight stay at Castle Grove, we will have a bus tour led by Hugh Dixon (Pevsner slave for North West Ulster) and Bruce Campbell to Liam McCormick’s church St Peter’s Milford, Carrigart Presbyterian church (Young and Mackenzie?), Holy Trinity Carrigart (Thomas Drew) and St John the Baptist Carrigart (architect unknown).  Finally we will visit  Trá Na Rosann Youth Hostel (formerly the private holiday home of the Phillimore family) attributed to Edwin Lutyens.

A light lunch will be provided.

Friday 17th – Dinner 7pm  Lecture 8.30/9pm.

Saturday 18th –  Bus departs 9am to Milford then Carrigart. Visit up to two churches before lunch and in the afternoon visit the remaining Carrigart churches and the youth hostel. Bus will return to Castle Grove Hotel by 6pm.

Due to the limited capacity of the hotel, only a very small number of single bookings can be accepted. These will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis.
