Our practice was formed based on a passion for structural engineering, with a reputation for innovative design solutions and lateral thinking. We have studios in Hillsborough and London where our team of dynamic, creative and ambitious engineers and designers are known for their flexible and pro-active approach towards working with architects, artists, designers, developers and contractors.
At Design ID, we are passionate about the conservation of the historic built environment. Fortunately, we often have the opportunity to work with buildings and structures of considerable historical, cultural and social value, and appreciate the responsibility that this brings.
We have a broad project portfolio, ranging from the restoration of a Grade 1 Listed 18th Century Mayfair townhouse, to the conservation of the oldest domestic gasworks in Ireland. Such projects often require perspective, and an in-depth understanding of historical context, in order to deliver truly holistic solutions at that point in time.

About
Acknowledging that historical buildings & structures are on a journey that neither starts or ends with us, is always our first step and helps us to cultivate a respectful approach.
Historic buildings & structures may not always meet the requirements of modern design codes, however our extensive experience allows us to use informed engineering judgement to minimize intervention and, where required, develop solutions that are sensitive to the original character and fabric.
